A (brief) Introduction to Myself

Me — wie ich war und wie ich werde wollte sein.

In the unlikely event anybody actually reads this, you should know that this is my “test” intro to Medium.

To fulfill the introduction part, I am a retired marketing and brand consultant living in Toronto. Throughout my life I have been writing stuff, some of it rather well, I think. So I thought that, in my copious free time (that’s what retired people have, copious free time — sounds a bit like a disease, and perhaps it is) I would write stuff, meaningful stuff, stuff that will change the world, beautifully written, articulate, perhaps bordering on poetic. I know I was born to be a Nobel Laureate, and perhaps Medium is my last chance.

People often say that the only way to write is to write, but I am not sure I believe it. If it is true, then why are there so many graduate courses in writing and so many people studying writing and taking adult learning courses in writing, etc? It’s the same vague, unformed cynical belief I have about library science — I cannot for the life of me think why one would need a post graduate Lib Sci degree (even an undergrad degree), but many people do, so there must be something).

I hope to put the first premise to the test (the writing by writing approach).

Until then, this is a test of Medium — an exercise in how to do this and what happens when I have done it.

And if you have read this, thanks.
